Oral agreements and handshake deals violate the law and put your business at risk. The MA Home Improvement Contractors Law requires written agreements for any home improvement project over $1,000. Many insurance carriers are requiring business to use written agreements with their contractors & subcontractors.

This presentation will discuss what you need to include in your written agreements to comply with the law, as well as avoiding traps that could cost you getting paid -- ambiguities, incomplete/missing information, dispute resolution, and indemnification/insurance clauses.  

The presenters will also provide recommendations for customized alternatives to AIA contracts to meet the unique needs of Island builders and subcontractors.
